Alexander Scott Bullitt

Alexander Scott Bullitt (* 1761 in Prince William County, Virginia; † April 13, 1816 in Jefferson County, Kentucky ) was an American politician. Between 1800 and 1804 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Career

Alexander Bullitt acquired and managed a farm near the present-day Louisville. The area was then still the state of Virginia. In 1784 he became a member of the local militia, where he later rose to the Major. He also sat down for an early separation of the territory of the later Kentucky State of Virginia. In 1792 he was a delegate to the Constituent Assembly of the future state. After joining the Union he sat 1792-1799 in the Senate from Kentucky.

In 1800, Bullitt was selected on the side of James Garrard for Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. This post he held 1800-1804. Yet he was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After the end of his time as Lieutenant Governor, he worked again on his farm, which he had named Oxmor. There he is on the April 13, 1816 and passed away.
