Alexander Siddig
Alexander Siddig ( born November 21, 1965, Sudan ) is a Sudanese- British actor, living in England.
Life
In Sudan, it is common for children each get the names of the ancestors and of his own father instead of a surname, which leads down through the generations to very long names. His full name is Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig El Abderahman El Mohammed Ahmed El Abdel Karim El Mahdi. His father is Sudanese ( brother of former Sudanese Prime Minister Sadiq al -Mahdi ), his mother Englishwoman ( the sister of Malcolm McDowell ).
His most famous role to date had Siddig as Dr. Julian Bashir in the U.S. science fiction series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993-1999 ).
Alexander Siddig was called originally " Siddig ", but had to rename it to " Siddig El Fadil ", when he moved to England. Later, he called again, this time in " Alexander Siddig " because the name "el Fadil " was pronounced correctly by virtually no one ( as Siddig ). Another problem was the name represents inasmuch as Siddig was because of him often cast in roles that his appearance ultimately did not meet; Conversely, he received roles for which he would have been visually the correct occupation, from the outset because of the name does not.
In June 1997, Siddig married his Star Trek actor colleague Nana Visitor. They were divorced in April 2001. The change his artist name coincided with the wedding and had the side effect that Siddig and Visitor were called one after the other in the opening credits of Deep Space Nine. Siddig and Visitor have a son.
