Alexander Sims (racing driver)
Alexander Sims ( born March 15, 1988 in London ) is a British racing driver. He won the 2008 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. He started in 2013 in the Blancpain Endurance Series, the European Formula 3 Championship and the GP3 series.
After Sims 2000-2006 was active in karting, he made 2006 in the winter series of the British Formula Renault, its first experience in Formula racing. 2007 Sims was active in the British Formula Renault and was with a win eighth in the championship. He also took part in several races of the French and Northern European Formula Renault Winter Series and competed in the British Formula Renault. 2008 Sims was another season in the British Formula Renault and was runner-up behind Adam Christodoulou. In addition, he participated in two races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Euro some cups and always reached while the top 10. He also completed guest appearances in the Western European Formula Renault and Formula BMW Pacific.
2009 moved to Sims Mucke Motorsport in the Formula 3 Euro Series, in which he at the Nürburgring celebrated his first victory in Sunday's race. At the end of the season he took fourth place in the overall standings. In addition, Sims took two race weekends of the International Formula Master in part as a guest. 2010 moved to Sims ART Grand Prix, the champion team of the previous year, for which he played his second season in the Formula 3 Euro Series. With a win on the first race weekend in Le Castellet at the end of the season he finished fourth overall. He also completed for ART guest appearances in the British Formula 3 Championship, where he finished first in a race, and took part in two race weekends of the Auto GP. In the Formula 3 Masters 2010, he was also second behind his team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
2011 moved to Sims Status Grand Prix in the GP3 Series. With a win and five podium finishes he finished the season as the best pilot of his team from fifth place in the driver standings. In addition, he participated for Moto Park Academy at the season finale of the British Formula 3 Championship. He chose a race for themselves. He also began to TOM'S in the Macau Grand Prix.
2012 remained at status Sims GP, failed to boot up for the team but in Formula racing, but in endurance racing in a LMP2 car. In the European Le Mans Series, he reached with a third place in his debut race at Le Castellet and was tenth in the LMP2 drivers championship. For status he launched in 2012 also the first time in the 24- hour race at Le Mans. In addition, he returned as a guest for T-Sport to an event at the Nürburgring in the Formula 3 Euro Series. He came at a run in the first place to the finish. He needed to participate to start again at the Macau Grand Prix. 2013 Sims launched for Hexis Racing in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 in the Blancpain Endurance Series and was together with his team mate Álvaro Parente and Stef Dusseldorp 15 in the GT3 Pro Cup. He also completed in a GT car of McLaren two races in the FIA GT Series. In addition, he participated in several formula race. In the 2013 GP3 Series season, he stepped up to a race weekend for Status Grand Prix and three race weekends for Carlin. With status he achieved a second place, with Carlin he won the sprint race at Spa- Francorchamps and scored another second place. He was eighth in the drivers' standings. In the European Formula 3 Championship in 2013, he played four race weekends for T-Sport and stood in five out of twelve races on the podium. In the championship, he was at the end of the season in tenth place.
