Alexander Stepanov (ice hockey)

Alexander Alexandrovich Stepanov (Russian Александр Александрович Степанов; born April 26, 1979 in Moscow, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is since May 2012 for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Alexander Stepanov began his career as a hockey player with the HK Dynamo Moscow, for which he was active in the Russian Super League until 2005. With Dynamo in 2000 he was and 2005 Champion of Russia. Then, the attacker moved to their league rivals Ak Bars Kazan, with whom he re- Champion of Russia was in the seasons 2005/ 06, 2008/ 09 and 2009/10. In addition, Stepanov won with his team at the international level 2007 IIHF European Champions Cup, as Kazan clearly prevailed 6-0 against Finnish opponent HPK Hämeenlinna, as well as the 2008 IIHF Continental Cup, when the Russians with three wins in three games, the Super Final sovereignly decided for themselves.

After the 2010/11 season Stepanov received no contract extension from Ak Bars. As a result, he received several offers from other KHL clubs, among others Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Ultimately, he decided in early September for a change to Severstal Cherepovets.

Since May 2012, he is two years for Salavat Yulaev Ufa under contract.
