Alexander Strehmel

Strehmel Alexander ( born March 20, 1968) is a former German football player and current coach.

Strehmel had U.S. citizenship, but finally accepted the German citizenship, because otherwise he certainly had a regular place at VfB Stuttgart, where he played from 1986 to 1994 due to the then applicable limit foreigners. In addition, the acceptance of German citizenship enabled him several missions for the German U20 national team. Among his greatest successes with VfB include winning the German Championship 1991/92 and second place in the UEFA Cup in 1989 and with the SpVgg Unterhaching promotion to the Bundesliga in 1999.

He scored in 214 games in the Bundesliga first nine goals in 169 games in the Bundesliga 2 five goals. In the Regionalliga Süd he came for the second team of VfB Stuttgart on 31 missions in which he scored 1 goal.

Strehmel played in central defense, where he also frequently intervened on the offensive.

From 20 January 2009 to 30 June 2013, he was assistant coach of VfL Wolfsburg II, between 26 January to 30 June 2010 Interim coach.
