Alexander Vencel (footballer born 1944)

Alexander Vencel ( born February 8, 1944 in Ilva Mare, Hungary, now Romania ) is a former Slovak football goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach. Vencel played 25 times for the Czechoslovakian national soccer team.

Association

Alexander Vencel was born in the Transylvanian Ilva Mare. As a teenager, he came to Czechoslovakia and played football in Diakovce near Šaľa. In 1958 he moved to TJ Dimitrov Bratislava, which merged in 1960 with Slovan Bratislava.

His two-year military service made ​​the goalkeeper from 1963 to 1965 from the army club Dukla Komárno. Then he returned to Slovan Bratislava and spent the next twelve years the game goalkeeper.

With Slovan Vencel, 1970, 1974 and 1975 won the Czechoslovak Cup. The Czechoslovak Cup winning team in 1968 and 1974. Vencel celebrated international success by winning the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1968/69.

After 321 first division matches for Slovan Bratislava, 132 without conceding Vencel moved to 1977 to the then second division Plastika Nitra, where he remained until 1979. His career was the goalkeeper from 1980 to 1982 end with Slovan Vienna.

National

Alexander Vencel debuted on September 19, 1965 in the Czechoslovakian national team. The Czechoslovak Socialist Republic defeated Romania in their World Cup qualifier 3-1.

By 1977 Vencel denied a total of 25 international matches, his biggest competitor at the time was Ivo Viktor from Dukla Prague, his deputy Vencel was at the World Cup 1970. In the group game against Romania, which lost the Czechs and Slovaks with 1:2, he came to his sole championship use.

After his playing career Alexander Vencel worked as a goalkeeper and assistant coach in Slovakia, among others Kablo Bratislava, DAC Dunajská Streda and Spartak Trnava. In the 2007 /08 season, he works at Slovan Bratislava.
