Alexander Vencel (footballer born 1967)

Alexander Vencel ( born March 2, 1967 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Slovak football goalkeeper and current goalkeeping coach. Vencel played 19 times for the Slovak national football team and twice for the Czechoslovakian national soccer team.

Association

Alexander Vencel started his professional career at Slovan Bratislava. In the seasons 1986/87 and 1987/ 88, the young goalkeeper was only substitute, his first assignments, he came in the season 1988 / 89th The following year he spent at RH Cheb, there to complete his military service.

Following returned to Slovan Bratislava where he was henceforth the undisputed number one in goal. In 1992, Vencel with Slovan the Czechoslovak championship. After the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and establishment of an independent Slovak League Slovan won the Slovak Championship with Vencel goal in 1993/94.

In the summer of 1994 he moved to Racing Strasbourg in the French Division 1 There he helped main goalkeeper of the team in 1997 to win the French League Cup. In the season 1998/99 he was awarded by France Football as most resistant goalkeeper D1. However, he was only irregularly in the following season, used and changed in the summer of 2000, the then second division club Le Havre AC.

In his first season in Le Havre Vencel was chosen by the French Football Federation as the best player of Division 2. In 2002, he helped Le HAC for promotion to the Ligue 1, where the team but could keep only one year. After the 2004/ 05 season Vencel ended his career.

National

For Czechoslovakia Alexander Vencel played twice. On September 25, 1991, he appeared as a substitute in the match against Norway in 83 minutes for Petr Kouba. His second mission was the Slovak on May 27, 1992, when he came to Poland in the second half for Petr Kouba on the field.

Henceforth, Alexander Vencel played for the independent Slovakia, for whom he played 19 international matches.

Goalkeeper Coach

After his playing career Vencel worked as a goalkeeping coach at Le Havre AC. He is currently in the same position with Racing Strasbourg.
