Alexander Vladimirovich Konovalov

Alexander Vladimirovich Konovalov (Russian Александр Владимирович Коновалов; born June 9, 1968 in Leningrad ) is a Russian politician and, since May 12, 2008 Minister of Justice in the government of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (until 2012 ) and Dmitry Medvedev (since 2012).

Biography

Konovalov was ( since 1991 Saint Petersburg ), born as the son of a Soviet naval personnel in what was then Leningrad. After his military service in the Soviet Army in the years 1986-1988 he studied law at the University of Leningrad. In 1992 he completed his studies and has since worked in the St. Petersburg prosecutor's office. During his tenure at the public prosecutor Konovalov graduated from a distance learning Orthodox theology. In 1998 he was promoted to chief prosecutor of the Moscow City district of Saint Petersburg, then in 2001 the first deputy prosecutor of the city of Saint Petersburg. At the same time he also worked as a lecturer in civil law and Roman law at St. Petersburg University.

In February 2005, Konovalov was appointed by the then Minister of Justice Vladimir Ustinov to the Prosecutor of the Russian republic of Bashkiria. This office he held until November of the same year. On November 14, Konovalov was then President Plenipotentiary Representative ( so-called Polpred ) in the Volga Federal District in place of his predecessor in this office, the former prime minister Sergei Kiriyenko, was appointed.

After the official inauguration of former President Putin as prime minister in May 2008, Konovalov was promoted by the adoption of the new President Dmitry Medvedev as the new Minister of Justice. In this office, Konovalov Vladimir Ustinov superseded.

Alexander Konovalov is married and has two daughters and a son. Konovalov belong to the Russian Orthodox Church.
