Alexander Yagubkin

Alexander Gennadjewitsch Jagubkin (Russian Александр Геннадьевич Ягубкин; born April 25, 1961 in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR, USSR † August 7, 2013 ) was a Soviet amateur boxer.

Career

Alexander Jagubkin began in 1974 with the sport of boxing. His first international success was a third place at the Junior World Championships 1979 in Yokohama, where he lost in the semifinals against the Americans Marvis Frazier.

Jagubkin won three times in his career (1981 in Tampere, 1983 in Varna, as well as 1985 in Budapest) the European Heavyweight Championship. He defeated Among other things, 1981 in the final battle Jürgen Fanghänel and 1983 the Dutch Arnold Vanderlyde. At the European Championships 1987 in Turin, he joined the super heavyweight and was able to reach the final fight in this weight class, defeated there but against Ulli Kaden.
