Alexandre Astruc

Alexandre Astruc ( born July 13, 1923 in Paris ) is a French film director, screenwriter, author and film critic.

After graduation Astruc first wanted to start with an engineering degree, but then studied law and art, closing both programs successfully. After that, he was the first literature - then a film critic and wrote, among other things for Combat, La Gazette du Cinéma, L' Ecran français and Les Cahiers du cinéma. In the fifties and sixties he made some movies, but it became increasingly difficult for him to find a producer for his elegant and personal films. Since then he has worked as a screenwriter and director for television and a freelance writer.
