Alexandre Burrows

Alexandre Ménard - Burrows ( born April 11, 1981 in Pointe -Claire, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League since 2005, when the Vancouver Canucks on the position of the left winger. Attention was to be a long way as ungedrafteter players from the East Coast Hockey League ( ECHL ) in the NHL.

Career

Burrows began his career at the age of 19 years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Cataractes de Shawinigan. After he was not considered for the NHL Entry Draft in 2002, he spent the 2002/ 03 season to the Greenville Grrrowl in the East Coast Hockey League. Later in the season, he joined the club again, this time to the Baton Rouge Kingfish. For both clubs, he scored in his first season, 32 points in 66 games. In the following season, 2003/ 04 Burrows came to the Columbia Inferno, the former ECHL farm team of the Vancouver Canucks, and raised there on 29 goals and 73 points in a season. Early in the same season signed Burrows at the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League, where he completed two games before he was sent back to Columbia.

Burrows aggressive style of play earned him a contract with the Vancouver Canucks, he signed on 9 November 2005. He had previously been invited to training camp for the 2005/ 06 season, was sent back to the Moose after the evaluation of the camp again. January 2, 2006 Burrows was appointed for the first time an NHL game in the Canucks squad and has since established itself at the Canucks. After two seasons in which he set up each new personal career records in the NHL, he was nominated in the 2008/ 09 season by the Professional Hockey Writers' Association as the Canucks candidate for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The season itself, he finished with a new career high, scoring 28 goals and 23 assists. In the 2009/10 season, he surpassed his previous year's figures and shot 35 goals in 82 games, had 32 assists and collected 67 points.
