Alexandre Giroux

Alexandre Giroux ( born June 16, 1981 in Quebec City, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with HC Ambri -Piotta from the National League A since June 2013.

Career

Giroux began his career in 1998 at the Hull Olympiques in the Quebec Major Junior League Canadian Junior Hockey League. There, he played three seasons until he moved within the League Rouyn -Noranda Huskies to during the 2000/ 01 season. He collected 226 points, including 111 goals, before he began his professional career to the 2001/02 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League.

In the NHL Entry Draft 1999, he was selected in the seventh round at 213 instead of the Ottawa Senators, but never made it to the NHL squad of Senators. After three seasons in the farm teams of Ottawa, he was transferred to the Trade Deadline in the spring of 2004 with Karel Rachunek to the New York Rangers. In turn, Greg de Vries moved to Ottawa.

In summer 2006, Giroux signed as a free agent contract with the Washington Capitals, where he came up with nine appearances in the NHL during the season 2006/ 07. He scored four points scorer. But after he had spent most of the season again only in the AHL, he moved to 2007/ 08 in the organization of the Atlanta Thrashers, who transferred him to 44 games for the Chicago Wolves return to Washington.

The 2008/09 season was a very successful season for Giroux. On 17 January 2009, he broke the AHL record for goals in consecutive games by hit in 15 games in succession. The previous record holder was Brett Hull. On April 10, 2009 Giroux was awarded the Les Cunningham Award for the Most Valuable Player of the AHL. He also won with the Hershey Bears at the end of the season the Calder Cup. In July 2010 he moved to the Edmonton Oilers, which it mainly in the farm team, the Oklahoma City Barons began,.

On July 4, 2011 Giroux signed a Zweiwegvertrag for one year at the Columbus Blue Jackets, but came again mainly with the Springfield Falcons in the AHL for use.

End of May 2012 he received a contract with Dinamo Riga of the Kontinental Hockey League. In June 2013 he was obliged by the HC Ambri -Piotta from the National League A.
