Alexandre Michon

Alexander Mikhailovich Mischon (Russian Александр Михайлович Мишон; * in Kharkov, † July 5, 1921 near Samara ) was a Russian photographer and director. For the cinema of Russia and Azerbaijan, he is one of the pioneers of film.

Life

Mischon was born in Kharkov in a French -born family, he grew up and began his career as a photographer in his home town. There had a photo studio until he moved to Baku. There he lived for the next 25 years.

In 1898, he finally began to turn his first films with a cinematograph of the Lumiere brothers, but he was most often impressions of events and landscapes one. Some of his films have been performed internationally. His cinematic work is both the Russian and also attributable to the Azerbaijani cinema, since Azerbaijan at that time belonged to Russia.

Mischon died in 1921 near Samara.
