Alexandre Picard (ice hockey)

Alexandre Picard (born 9 October 1985 in Les Saules, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is under contract with the Genève -Servette HC in the National League A since 2012.

Career

Alexandre Picard began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL, where he was active from 2001 to 2005 for de Sherbrooke Castors and after their relocation for their successor team Lewiston MAINEiacs. In the 2003 /04 season, he was elected to the second all-star team in the league and was awarded the Trophée Michael Bossy as a player the QMJHL, where the greatest opportunities for a successful professional career be given. Then the winger in the NHL Entry Draft, was selected in 2004 in the first round as a whole eighth player from the Columbus Blue Jackets. From 2005 to 2010 he played 67 games for Columbus in the National Hockey League, where he prepared two goals. However, he never was able to prevail in the Blue Jackets, which is why he spent most of the time at their farm team in Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League over a longer period.

On 3 March 2010 Picard was delivered to the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Chad Kolarik, played in the following year and a quarter but only for their AHL farm team San Antonio Rampage. In July 2011 he signed a contract as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL, however, came in the 2011/12 season also exclusively for their AHL farm team Norfolk Admirals used. Since the 2012/13 season he plays for Genève -Servette HC in the National League A.
