Alexandre Tharaud

Alexandre Tharaud ( born December 9, 1968 in Paris ) is a French pianist.

Life

Tharaud had from the age of five piano lessons with Carmen Taccon - Devenat, a pupil of Marguerite Long. At the Conservatoire de Paris, he joined the class of Germaine Mounier. At seventeen he was awarded the first prize in piano and then completed his training at Theodor Paraskivesco, Nikita Magaloff, Claude Helffer and Leon Fleisher. When Concurs Internacional Maria Canals in Barcelona in 1987 he was awarded the third prize at the International Music Competition of the ARD in Munich in 1989 the second prize.

He has appeared as soloist with several French orchestras (such as the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France ), the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of Tokyo and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and with conductors such as Yutaka Sado, Georges Prêtre, Marc Minkowski and Jean -Jacques Kantorow on. As a chamber musician he worked, inter alia, with the violinist Pierre Amoyal, the flautist Patrick Gallois and Philippe Bernold, clarinetist Michel Portal and Michel Lethiec and cellist Jean- Guihen Queyras together, with whom he recorded in 2006 Franz Schubert Arpeggione Sonata.

Tharaud played premieres of compositions Renaud Gagneux ', Jacques Lenots, Guillaume Connessons, Thierry Pécous, Thierry Escaichs and Olivier Greif. On the drive market, he was in 2001 with a recording of the harpsichord suites Jean -Philippe Rameau known. He was awarded multiple for the total intake of piano works Maurice Ravel. In 2004 he received the Edison Award. Together with pianist Eric Le Sage, the violinist Isabelle Faust, trumpeter David Guerrier and the singers Jean and Juliette Noureddine DELESCLUSE he took on in 2009 Erik Satie's compositions.
