Alexandrovsky District, Tomsk Oblast

The Alexandrovski rayon (Russian Александровский район ) is a Raion of the Tomsk Oblast in Russia. Administrative center is the village Alexandrovskoe with about 8,000 inhabitants (2006).

Geography

The Alexandrovski rayon is in the northwest of Tomsk Oblast on both sides of the Ob. The administrative center Alexandrovskoe is located 670 km from the Oblasthauptstadt Tomsk. 47 % of the area of the Rajons are forested; west of the Ob are 20 %, 80 % occupied east of swamps.

The Rajon bordered to the north and west by the Autonomous District of the Khanty-Mansi / Ugra, east and south by the Kargassokski rajon the Tomsk Oblast. From Rajon the territory of the city Streschewoi is included, which administratively belongs to Rajon, but forms a separate urban district.

In Alexandrovski rajon the villages are Lukaschkin Jar ( Лукашкин Яр ) Nasino ( Назино ) Nowonikolskoje ( Новоникольское ) Oktyabrsky ( Октябрьский ) and Severny ( Северный ).

80 % of the population are Russians, 9% German, 4.8% chanting, Selkups and others.

History

By the end of the 16th century, the area now Rajons was inhabited mainly by chanting. Thereafter, the settlement began by Russians. Though founded in the village Alexandrovskoe ( until 1924: Nishne - Lumpokolskoje ) applies in 1826.

The Rajon was created in November 1923 and first belonged to the circle of Tobolsk Oblast, Ural, then to various administrative units and, finally, as of 13 August 1944 the newly created Tomsk Oblast.

Economy

The main industry of the Rajons 's oil production. Since 1953, 22 deposits were discovered. In addition, wood and building materials industry and inland fisheries play an important role.
