Alexandru Macedonski

Alexandru Macedonski ( born March 14, 1854 in Craiova, † November 24, 1920 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian writer. It was based on the Parnassian, later on French Symbolism.

Life

At age 16, traveled Macedonski Austria - Hungary, Italy and Switzerland, he returned to Bucharest. In response to the dominance of Junimea company he founded in 1880 a school of poetry, which was based on the recent trends of European literature. So he wrote, inspired by Alfred de Musset, the cycle of poems Nopti ( nights).

After 1890, he preferred the shape of the rondeau. He also published a novel in French (Le calvaire de feu ). Macedonski was one of the first to use blank verse and free rhythms in Romanian poetry.

His son Alexis and grandson were painters Soare.
