Alexandru Tyroler

Alexandru Tyroler Sándor (* October 19, 1891 in Garamszentkereszt (now Žiar nad Hronom ); † February 3, 1973 in Budapest) was a Hungarian- Romanian chess master.

In 1912 he was able to prove a 5th place at a tournament in Temesvár. In 1925, he was then able to win a tournament in Bucharest. The following year he won in Sibiu, which was tantamount to winning the Romanian championship. He could repeat this success in 1927 in Bucharest. The Amateuerweltmeisterschaften in The Hague, he finished, however, then only the 15th place, but could decide again in 1929 for the Romanian championship. This time found the title fights take place in Jassy.

Tyroler represented the Romanian colors even with the unofficial Chess Olympiad 1926 in Budapest, where he was employed on board 5, and the team won the bronze medal. However, only four teams participated. In the third official Chess Olympiad 1930 in Hamburg he played for Romania on the 3rd board. His best Historical Elo rating of 2554 reached Tyroler in January 1913 that he was ranked 37 in the world.
