Alexei Fedorov

Aljaksej Fjodarau (White Russian Аляксей Дзмітрыевіч Фёдараў, Russian Алексей Дмитриевич Фёдоров, transcription Alexei Dmitrievich Fedorov, Alexei Fedorov FIDE notation; born September 27, 1972 in Mogilev ) is a Belarusian chess player. He played until 1992 for the Soviet, then briefly for the Russian and from 1993 for the Belarusian Chess Federation.

Seven times he took the Belarusian national chess Olympiads (1994 and 1998 to 2008) with a positive total return of 38 points from 70 games. He played for Belarus also participated in four European Team Championships (1997 to 2003). In 34 games he got here 19 points. Of over 70,000 games played in the history of the Chess Olympiad Fjodarau was involved in the shortest. On lap 11 of the Olympiad in Calvia 2004, he drew against the Georgian grandmaster Giorgi Katscheischwili in three half-moves ( 1 e2- e4 c7 - c6 2 d2 -d4 ). Fjodarau regarded as opening a specialist in the King's Gambit and the Dragon Variation in the Sicilian Defence.

He was four times Belarusian singles champion: 1993, 1995, 2005 ( Minsk) and again in 2008 in Minsk with a half point ahead of Syarhey Schyhalka. When Aeroflot Open 2003 in Moscow, he finished third in the tie-break. In January 2006, he won the 4th Pavarsnath International Open in New Delhi. In October 2008 he won in Bucharest, the second Romgaz Open, the highest prize money chess tournament that has taken place up to that point on Romanian soil.

In the Russian Team Championships he played for the club at the University of Maikop, in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2003 ( runner-up in Jahorina ) and 2004 for the ŠK Kiseljak, with whom he won third place at the European Club Cup 2003 in Rethymno. He received at European Club Cup also an individual silver medal for his score of 5.5 out of 7 on the fifth board. In Belarus, he played for Wesnjanka Minsk, later for Wesnjanka Gran and the Czech Republic for BSS Frýdek- Místek. He also had appearances in the Croatian and Romanian Liga 1.

At age 19 (1992 ), he became an International Master, at age 23 (1996 ) Grandmaster. His previous highest Elo rating was 2684 in January 2000. At that time he was on the 14th place in the FIDE world ranking list.
