Alexei Vasiliev (ice hockey, born 1977)

Alexei Sergeyevich Vasilyev (Russian: Алексей Сергеевич Васильев; born September 1, 1977 in Yaroslavl, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player standing since November 2011 with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Alexei Vassiliev began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Torpedo Yaroslavl. For the professional team of the club he played between 1993 and 1996 in the International Hockey League. After this was replaced by the Super League, the defender won with torpedo in the season 1996/97 Russian Championship. He subsequently received a contract with the New York Rangers, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 in the fifth round as the 110th overall player. The entire season 1997/98 he had to stop due to a knee injury he suffered in training camp for the Rangers. From 1998 to 2000, he finally played for the farm team of the Rangers, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. He scored 21 goals in 171 games and prepared 49 matches ago. He also came in the 1999/2000 season to his only use for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League.

On 25 September 2000 Vasilyev was delivered to the Nashville Predators. In these he was also only in the farm team for use in the 2000 season and denied / 01 73 games for the Milwaukee Admirals in the International Hockey League, where he scored six goals and had twelve templates. In the summer of 2001, the links Sagittarius returned to his hometown club from Yaroslavl, who had now changed its name to the locomotive. With Lokomotiv Yaroslavl he instantly became in the years 2002 and 2003 champion. In the following years the former youth international has been a key player in his team, with whom he was in 2008 Russian runners-up. Since the 2008/ 09 season he represents locomotive in the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League on the ice, in their premiere season he lost his team Ak Bars Kazan in the playoff final for the Gagarin Cup with 3:4 victories. In the following season Vasilyev was also assistant captain at locomotive. Following the 2010/11 season he left Lokomotiv Yaroslavl and was without a club until November 2011, before the Russian Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod has been committed.

Internationally

For Russia Vasilyev took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championship 1995 World Junior Championship in 1996 and 1997 in part.
