The preparations for the project lasted two years. 24 photo expeditions led Ivanov and his team of photographers by almost 200 Russian Städt and villages in Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Estonia. The Pugachev theme inspired him to the idea of the documentary imagery with photographed materials, the structure of Russia and the relevance of individual provincial regions: to put Urals, Baschkiristan, Volga closer into view, which, as the author himself says, " as the Shard mosaic of social and cultural phenomena for the development of the country are to be seen and like a litmus test to show the diverse structure of the country. The difference between the forms of life is the difference between the identities of these regions to this day. The photography can make landscapes, places and regions without further explanation of distinctness concretely visible. "
