Alexey Ekimov

Alexei Ivanovich Ekimov (Russian Алексей Иванович Екимов, as Aleksei Ekimov transcribed; born February 28, 1945) is a Russian physicist.

Ekimov is colloidal together with Louis Brus and Alexander Efros discoverer semiconductor nanocrystals, known as quantum dot.

Ekimov received the Ph.D. and the Doctor of Physics at the Ioffe Physical - Technical Institute in Leningrad, Russia. He received the State Prize in Physics and Technology of the USSR and the Alexander von Humboldt Prize for his work on quantum dots, and holds several patents.
