Alexia Vassiliou

Alexia Vassiliou or short: Alexia ( Greek: Αλέξια, born February 5, 1964 in Famagusta ) is a Cypriot pop and jazz singer.

Vassiliou's first major appearance was as a member of Iceland in the Euro Vision Song Contest 1981, which brought the group to sixth place. In 1982 she took up the song I am Siam, who joined in the U.S. charts. Alexia was in the same year to Boston, where she studied at the Berklee College of Music. After her graduation in 1985 she was two years active in the jazz and fusion scene of New York City and sang in the band Axioum.
