Alexis Littré

Alexis Littre ( born July 21, 1658 Cordes- sur -Ciel, † February 3, 1725 in Paris) was a French physician, surgeon, anatomist and university teachers.

Life

Littre studied medicine in Montpellier and Paris and received his doctorate in the year 1691st In 1699 he became a member of the Académie des sciences. He worked as a physician and anatomy teacher in Paris. For the conditions of his time, he led unusually numerous and thorough studies on cadavers. So it was possible for him because of its good connections to a surgeon in the Salpêtrière, implemented jointly with a physician colleagues alone in winter 1684 over 200 sections. He published The acquired knowledge in numerous medical articles and treatises. He described the first named after him manifestation of intestinal rupture ( Littre'sche hernia ) are also after him described Littréschen glands, first described by him named ( urethral glands ).

He was also known by he developed surgical technique for the treatment of congenital closure of the anus.
