Alexis Phạm Văn Lộc

Alexis Phạm Văn Lộc ( born March 17, 1919 in Phu Cam, Hue, † November 17, 2011 in Kon Tum ) was a Vietnamese priest and Roman Catholic bishop of the Diocese of Kontum.

Life

Alexis Pham Van Lôc attended from 1933 to 1940 the school Huu Thien Hue and completed his high school education in 1941 at the Khải Định, Huế. He attended the seminary of the Missionaries of Kon Tum and entered 1944 in the seminary of Qui Nhon. In 1945 he moved to the University of the missionaries in Kon Tum. From 1946 to 1951 he finished his studies at the Seminary of Hue. He received on 21 August 1951, the ordination to the priesthood by Bishop Jean -Baptiste Urrutia MEP, Vicar Apostolic of Hue. From 1957 to 1969 he was Rector of the National Seminary of the Missionaries in Kon Tum. 1969/71 he completed a postgraduate course at the Institut Catholique de Paris.

On March 27, 1975, he was at the end of the Vietnam War by Pope Paul VI. appointed Titular Bishop of Respecta and appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Kontum. The Bishop of Kontum, Paul -Léon Seitz MEP, initiated him on the same day in Kon Tum bishop. The episcopal motto of Alexis Pham Van Lôc was " omnium servum " ( I want to be the servant of all; 1 Cor 9:19 ). He was followed on October 2, 1975 by Paul -Léon Seitz MEP in office and became the fourth Bishop of Kontum. He was the No. 40 in the hierarchy of bishops of Vietnam.

On April 8, 1995, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related. He was buried in the Cathedral of Kon Tum.

Its name combines Western tradition names ( Alexis as a first name before the family name Pham ) with Vietnamese ( Van Lôc as a personal name stands behind the family name ).
