Aleysk

Aleisk (Russian Алейск, also Alejsk, Aleysk ) is a city in the Altai region in southern West Siberia (Russia) with 29 510 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located 125 km southwest of Barnaul in the steppes of the northern Altai foothills, on the eastern edge of the Obplateaus, on the left bank of the Alei, a left tributary of the Ob.

Aleisk is the administrative center of the Rajons same name, on the railway line ( station Aleiskaja ) and the highway Barnaul - Semipalatinsk ( Kazakhstan).

The climate is continental with an average January temperature of -17.6 ° C and an average July temperature of 20.3 ° C. The mean annual rainfall is 444 mm.

History
