Alf Hansen

Alf John Hansen ( born July 13, 1948 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian rowers. In the 1970s, he was one of the most successful rowers in the world. At the World Championships 1974-1979, he won with his older brother Frank Hansen in the double sculls three gold and one silver medal. However, the greatest achievement was the gold medal at the Olympic Games of 1976 in Montreal. At the Games in Moscow in 1980, he was this success because of the Olympic boycotts of 64 states, which also joined Norway, but not repeat. His brother Frank finished after his career, Alf Hansen continued his sports career but succeeds with a new partner continued. Between 1981 and 1983 he won together with Rolf Bernt Thorsen three medals in the double sculls, including the gold medal at the World Championships in 1982. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul Hansen was a member of the Norwegian team in the quadruple sculls and won, as was the year before at the World Championships, Silver. After the World Cup of 1991, he finished his career at the age of 43 years.

In 1990, Alf got John Hansen awarded the Thomas Keller Medal, the highest award of the International Rowing Federation. As early as 1975 he had been in his native won the gold medal Morgenbladet, 1976 with the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris.
