Alf Palmer

Alf Palmer (c. 1891, † 1981), or Jinbilnggay in his native language, was the last native speakers of Warrungu, a language of Australian aborigines. He lived in Townsville (Queensland ), Australia.

In order to maintain its language for posterity, he worked with the linguist Tasaku Tsunoda of Japan and Dr. Peter Sutton from Sydney, Australia. He was anxious that his language should survive, and said several times to Tsunoda, "I am the last person who speaks Warrungu. When I die, the language dies. I bring everything with what I know, so write it down as well. " ( " I'm the last one to speak Warrungu. When I die, this language wants. 'll Teach you everything I know, so put it down properly. " )
