Geography
Geographical Location
Alfdorf is located about 10 km north- west of Schwäbisch Gmünd and 40 km northeast of Stuttgart. The landscape varied municipal area (altitude 308-560 m above sea level) is located in the Swabian- Franconian Forest and offers many opportunities for walking and relaxing. In the immediate vicinity is the Welzheimer forest.
Climate
The annual rainfall is 1044 mm. Rainfall is high and in the top quartile of the detected values in Germany. At 87% of the stations of the German Weather Service lower values are registered. The driest month is February, the most rainfall comes in June. In June, falling 1.6 times more precipitation than in February. Precipitation varies greatly. At 71% of the monitoring stations, lower seasonal swings are recorded.

History
The Romans erected from the year 150 AD, between the Rhine at Koblenz and the Danube near Regensburg Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes the. This boundary line to the Germans marched through even the west of the present village area of Alfdorf. From the North Northwest Limes resulted in a dead straight line for a distance of 80 kilometers from near Wallduern in the Odenwald to Alfdorf district Haghof, where he first abruptly abknickte to the east and again waved just before the neighboring Alfdorf district Pfahlbronn to the south, then the Rems at Lorch to strive towards. Alfdorf originated in the older expansion time and was first mentioned in documents in 1143, confirmed as bishop of Augsburg Walther a foundation of the monastery Anhausen an der Brenz; this property was passed in 1327 to the monastery of Lorch. Structures
In the field of community Alfdorf ends one near the Haghofs in Wallduern incipient, 81 km long, straight south-southeast running portion of the Upper Germanic-Rhaetian Limes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Craft
Alfdorf has a long tradition in pottery. In its heyday Alfdorf potteries delivered their goods even to the court of Stuttgart. To date, the old craft is operated in the traditional form.

Alfdorf is in the range of transport and tariff association Stuttgart and is part of the composite rate Ostalb mobile. The nearest railway stations are Lorch ( Wuertt ) and Schwäbisch Gmünd at the Rems Railway (Stuttgart - Aalen ), removed eight or twelve miles from Alfdorf. Education
In Alfdorf there is a primary and secondary school with Werkrealschule. In the part locations Pfahlbronn and Hellershof are each another elementary school. The next Secondary schools are located in Welzheim, Lorch and Mutlangen. In addition to three kindergartens Alfdorf also has a music school and a community college.
Religion
In Alfdorf there is a Protestant, a Catholic, an Apostolic and Evangelical Methodist Church. Furthermore, there is the popular mission Alfdorf. There is also the Stiftungshof in the hood Wasen (Evangelical Home Foundation ), a modern care center.
Residents associations
The TSV 1921 Alfdorf was founded on 15 March 1921 as Turnverein Alfdorf.
