Alfedena

Alfedena is a municipality with 791 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of L' Aquila in the Abruzzo region. It is located 188 km east of Rome and 118 km southeast of L' Aquila.

Geography

Alfedena lies in the valley of the Rio Torto, just before its confluence with the Sangro. A large part of its territory belongs to the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Alto Sangro Cinque Miglia.

The nearby towns are Barrea, Monte Val Cocchiara (IS), Picinisco (FR), Pizzone (IS) and Scontrone.

Traffic

Alfedena is connected via the Strada Statale 83 Marsicana to the road network.

Alfedena has a station on the railway line Isernia - Sulmona.
