Alfons Higl

Alfons Higl ( born December 17, 1964 in Aindling ) is a former German football player.
Career
Alfons Higl was a solid and reliable defender who had his most successful period at the 1 FC Cologne. After the stations FC Augsburg and SC Freiburg coach Christoph Daum in 1989 brought him to the Rhine. With the Cologne team to Pierre Littbarski, Frank and Thomas Hassler Ordenewitz the Swabian-born German vice-champion in 1990 and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup against Juventus. The DFB Cup final in 1991, he lost the 1st FC Cologne against Werder Bremen.
After 1995/96, ended his active career at SC Fortuna Köln, hit Alfons Higl the path of a coach, the over FC Augsburg and VfL Wolfsburg led him ( there as an assistant coach ) to TSV 1860 Munich, where he remained until 2006, the second team assisted in the Regionalliga Süd. For the season 2006/ 07 he moved to first division club VfB Stuttgart, where he worked as an Assistant coach Armin Veh and 2007 German champion. On January 19, 2007, his contract with VfB has been extended until 2008. On 23 November 2008, he was dismissed along with Armin Veh at VfB Stuttgart. From 1 July 2009 to 25 January 2010, he trained as an assistant coach under Veh the then reigning German champions VfL Wolfsburg. For the 2011/12 season took over as acting head coach Alfons Higl the U19 TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
After the 3rd round of the Bundesliga season 2013/14 he came back to coach team of VfB Stuttgart. There he was assistant coach of Thomas Schneider, the new VfB coach. After the 24th round of the season, on March 9, 2014 he was exempted by a persistent negative series along with head coach Thomas Schneider and his co- coaching colleagues Tomislav Maric from his duties.
