Alfonso IV d'Este, Duke of Modena

Alfonso IV d' Este (* February 2, 1634, † June 16, 1662 ) was the eldest grown-up son of the Duke Francesco I d' Este of Modena and Reggio and was at his death on October 14, 1658, his successor.

Alfonso married on May 27, 1655 Laura Martinozzi († 1687 ) (see also House Mazarin Mancini ), with whom he had three children:

• Francesco d' Este (1657-1658),
• Maria Beatrice d' Este (1658-1718) ∞ December 1, 1673 James II, King of England ( 1633-1701 ),
• Francesco II d' Este (1660-1694), Duke 1662 ∞ 1692 Margherita Farnese ( 1664-1718 ), daughter of the Duke of Parma Ranuccio II Farnese.
