Alfonso Pérez (boxer)

Alfonso Pérez ( born January 16, 1949 in Cartagena ) is a retired Colombian boxer.

In 1970 Pérez in the lightweight (-60 kg), the Central American and Caribbean Championships and 1971 at the Pan American Games silver medal. 1972 reached Pérez after beating Peter Odhiambo, Uganda (5:0), Karel Kaspar Czechoslovakia (5-0 ), and Eraslan Doruk, Turkey ( 3:2 ), the semifinals of the 1972 Olympics. This he lost to László Orbán, Hungary, 3-2 judges' votes with which he won the Olympic bronze medal.

1973 Pérez turned pro. He played 40 fights of which he won 27 and lost 10. During his career he won the Colombian championship in the spring and lightweight and won, among other things against the eventual world champion Eusebio Pedroza by KO in the third round.
