Alfred Amonn

Alfred Amonn ( born June 1, 1883 in Brunico, South Tyrol, † November 2, 1962 in Bern ) was an Austrian economist.

Life

Amonn studied in Innsbruck and Vienna, law and economics. In 1907 he received a doctorate in law. et rer. pol. , 1910 was his habilitation.

In the same year he went as an associate professor in Fribourg (Switzerland ), where he taught for two years. In 1912 he went to the then Austrian Czernowitz. In 1920 he accepted an appointment at the German University in Prague. 1926-1929 Amonn was a visiting professor in Tokyo. After his return he held until his retirement in 1953, the office of professor of theoretical economics and finance at the University of Bern. 1949/50, Amonn was also Rector of the University. Under his leadership, the economic department was split into a chair for theoretical economics and in a practical economics, he was professor of the chair of theoretical economics.

Work

Amonn was a corresponding member of the Bavarian and Austrian Academy of Sciences. He also worked as a consultant and staff in various expert committees, but during and after with his teaching. Even with its publications Amonn always took influence on the economic policies of Switzerland.

Amonns main focus was on the linking of his time important trends ( Viennese School, marginal utility theory, Lausanne school) in the field of economics.
