Alfred Belpaire
Alfred Jules Belpaire ( born September 25, 1820 Ostend, † January 26, 1893 ) was a Belgian railway engineer. In addition to numerous steam locomotives and coaches, he also designed the Belpaire - standing boilers.
1837 to 1840 he attended the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Then Belpaire worked at the Belgian State Railways, where he was employed as a mechanical engineer for more than 50 years.
Alfred Belpaire belonged in 1884 to the founders of the Congrès International des Chemins de Fer, which he became president in 1891.
