Alfred E. Santangelo

Alfred Edward Santangelo ( born June 4, 1912 in New York City; † 30 March 1978 in Orlando, Florida) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1957 and 1963 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Alfred Edward Santangelo was born about two years before the outbreak of the First World War in New York City. He attended public schools. His Bachelor of Arts he made in 1935 at the City College of New York in 1938 and his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Columbia University School of Law. He was admitted to the bar in 1939 and commenced practice in New York City. As a deputy district attorney in 1945, he was active. He sat 1947-1950 and 1953-1956 in the Senate from New York. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1956 for the 85th Congress Santangelo was in the 18th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of James G. Donovan on January 4, 1957. He was re-elected twice in a row. In 1962 he suffered in his re-election bid a defeat and retired after January 3, 1963 from the Congress of.

After his conference time he went back to his work as a lawyer after. As a delegate, he took in 1967 at the Constitutional Convention of New York. He lived in the Bronx. On March 30, 1978, he died in Orlando and was then buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.
