Alfred Edward Chalon
Alfred Edward Chalon (* February 15, 1780 in Geneva, † October 3, 1860 in Kensington) was a British painter.
Life
Alfred Edward Chalon and his brother John James (1778-1854) grew up in Geneva, to their father in the early 1790s, took a job as a professor at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. In 1797 Chalon studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in London with a focus on watercolor and pastel drawings. In the following years he made a name for himself as a portrait painter in London society. On the occasion of her coronation, the young Queen Victoria was in 1837 portray of Chalon in full coronation regalia. For 10-year jubilee of the engraver Samuel Cousins took ( 1801-1887 ) the drawing as a model for leaflets and later for a stamp ( 1851).
