Alfred Janson

Alfred Martin Janson ( born March 3, 1937 in Oslo) is a Norwegian composer, pianist and accordionist.

Life and work

Janson, who has already occurred twelve years old as an accordionist in restaurants of Oslo, was trained as a pianist from his mother. He studied music theory and composition with Björn Fongaard and Finn Mortensen and attended the Darmstadt Summer Courses. As a pianist, he made his debut in 1962.

Jansons music can not be locked stylistically. He said of himself, he was interested in everything except Wagner and Viennese operettas. As a performing musician he works mainly as a jazz pianist and wrote many arrangements for jazz bands. During his early avant-garde compositions are to you, can be found in his later works of the late Romantic influences, jazz and Norwegian folklore.
