Alfred Kirwa Yego

Alfred Kirwa Yego (born 28 November 1986) is a Kenyan middle distance runner who starts predominantly on the 800 - meter track.

The Kenyan Champion and Vice World Junior Champion in 2004 failed at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 in the semifinals, but won the following year bronze at the African Cup of Nations.

At the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, he scored the biggest success of his career by winning the gold medal. On the home straight, he had a fierce sprint with his rival Gary Reed ( CAN), who had long led the field provided. With a time of 1:47,09 minutes he pushed with 0.01 s lead over the Canadians to the finish. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 he won the bronze medal over 800 m.
