Alfred Lunt

Alfred Lunt ( born August 12, 1892 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA; † August 3, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois, USA) was an American film and theater actor.

Life

Alfred Lunt, son of Finnish parents had already earlier worked as an actor, and was already in 1903 on Broadway on stage. After his schooling Lunt 1917 tied his career as an actor at. In his more than 30 plays to Lunt soon developed into one of the most popular stage actor of his time, in 1959, and then two more times with the Tony Award.

1923 Lunt was in the movie classic backbone for the first time in front of the movie camera. All in all, his film career with about 9 rolls of film relatively manageable. His lasting successful film was the 1931 film produced drama The Guardsman, was nominated for the 1932 Lunt for an Oscar as Best Actor.

In May 1926 Lunt married actress Lynn Fontanne. The two that stood together in over 20 plays on the stage, are still regarded as the first actor couple in history. Both founded in the year 1958, the Lunt - Fontanne Theatre in New York City, where A visit to the old lady was brought the first theater piece for performance on 5 May 1958, Friedrich Dürrenmatt. And even private, the image of a harmonious marriage seemed to confirm, as Lunt and Fontanne led a 55- year long marriage.

Alfred Lunt himself was 84 years old, and died in 1977 of leukemia.
