Alfred Metcalf Jackson

Alfred Metcalf Jackson ( * July 14 1860 in South Carrollton, Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, † June 11, 1924 in Winfield, Kansas ) was an American politician. Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the third electoral district of the state of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Alfred Jackson attended the common schools and the West Kentucky College. After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he began to practice in his new profession. In 1881 he moved his practice and according to Howard in Elk County, Kansas. In 1890 he became district attorney and 1892 he was a judge in the 13th Judicial District of the State of Kansas. In 1898 he moved to Winfield in Cowley County.

Jackson was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1900, he was appointed as their candidate in the third district of Kansas in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1901 in the footsteps of Edwin R. Ridgely. Dar he has not been confirmed at the next elections, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1903.

After his time in Congress, Jackson again worked as a lawyer in Winfield, where he died in 1924.
