Alfred Washington Adson

Alfred Washington Adson (* 1887, † 1951) was an American neurosurgeon and is considered a pioneer of this discipline. He was the first full-time neurosurgeon at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester (Minnesota).

Adson became the first before sympathectomy for the treatment of hypertension and Raynaud's syndrome. In addition, he developed the Adson test and numerous named after him special designs surgical instruments ( Forceps, Tissue Forceps, Retractors )
