Alfred Witte

Alfred Witte ( born March 2, 1878 in Hamburg, † August 4, 1941 ) was a German surveyor and astrologer.

Life

Alfred Witte was born the only son of a carpenter in Hamburg. He had two sisters, Ida and Paula. The father refused and left the family. The mother Metta Witte, not remarried and moved alone to the children. Witte grew up in Hamburg, married 1930 Gertrude Jantzen (born Schlee ) widow. With her he had two daughters, Anne Charlotte ( 1930) and Marion (1932 ) ..

Witte learned the profession of surveyors, he should put in the position of a Technical Inspector for the city of Hamburg. Private Witte dealt first with astronomy, took about 1911 to astrological lectures and courses given by Brandler splendor in Hamburg in part, and penetrated with the help of Albert Kniepf, his teacher, in the teachings of astrology one. He soon developed on its own and dissenting opinion in relation to traditional astrology. Instead apply the teaching aspect of the ancient classical astrology, he designed from 1913 to 1925, the idea of the planet image, which consists of two midpoints and is to be regarded as an algebraic equation.

His teaching was referred to non-residents of Hamburg astrologers as the "Hamburg School" .. the term used by Friedrich victory green. He became a proper name for the method through him; it is the world as " Uranian System of Astrology" - short " Uranian Astrology" - known.

1923 Witte said to have with his mathematically oriented analysis method found more celestial bodies beyond Neptune's astrological ephemeris and gave out for it. Witte inspired victory green for the calculation of further hypothetical planet. The total of 8 hypothetical planets, however, were rejected outside of the " Hamburg School " by most astrologers.

However, Reinhold Ebertin took the idea of the midpoints complete, the structured his teaching of Cosmobiology and coined; in the formulation of Kocku Stuckrads: " ... and the Ebertin School has established itself as a leading branch of astrology after the Second World War ( ... ) Ebertin wrote more than 60 books (...) crucial for the Ebertin School in addition to the suppression of the intermediate houses the interpretation adopted by Alfred Witte of the midpoints, ie those places in the chart which lie exactly in the middle between two factors of interpretation, regardless of whether a classical aspect is present or not. "

In the first half of the 20th century caused Witte with his ideas, which were also understood as a critique of traditional astrology, a lot of controversy among experts that significantly helped shape the further development of astrology in the 20th century.

Midpoints are offered in many astrology computer programs. In addition ephemeris are always offered by Wittes calculation and published, also known as the " midpoint ".
