Alfredo Jaar

Alfredo Jaar ( b. 1956 in Santiago de Chile) is an artist from Chile. His installation works mostly take policy issues of immigration to the genocide in Rwanda, where he also analyzes the media and his own position as a picture producer. Jaar exhibited at numerous international exhibitions, as at Documenta 8 in Kassel Documenta 11 and and 1986 and 2007 at the Biennale in Venice.

2000 he was a MacArthur Fellow. A comprehensive retrospective show in the summer of 2012 three art institutions in Berlin. The New Society for Visual Arts ( NGBK ), the Old National Gallery and the Berlin Gallery have made ​​various sectors of the oeuvre.

Alfredo Jaar is the father of musician Nicolas Jaar.
