Alfredo Lim

Alfredo Siojo Lim ( born December 21, 1929 in Manila ) is since 2007 Philippine mayor of Manila. Previously, he had already held this position from 1992 to 1998. His nickname is "Dirty Harry ".

His studies at the University of the East ended Lim 1951 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Subsequently, he began his career in the police service of Manila, first as a patrolman. In the following years he was promoted several times until he finally won the post of police chief (Police Major General ). Besides his work in the police service Lim studied the meantime once again at the University of the East, where he graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Laws. 1981 was followed by a further study for Master in National Security Administration. Resigned from the police service is Alfredo Lim on 21 December 1989. Following day, 22 December 1989, he was appointed head of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI ), the Philippine Department of Justice under its national investigative authority appointed.

With his election as mayor of Manila in 1992, Lim moved into politics. Re-elected in 1995, Lim had initially held the mayor's office until 1998. From 2004 to 2007 he was a member of the Philippine Senate, before he was elected mayor of Manila again in 2007. One of his first acts in his third term of office (2007 to 2010) was the re- release of the Avenida Rizal to traffic, which had been established by his predecessor as little traffic.

Alfredo Lim is a member of the Liberal Party. His political slogan is The Law Applies to all, otherwise none at all (Eng. about " The law applies to all, or otherwise for no one "). Following this motto proclaimed Lim 2008 after the successful because of a drug offense arrest of his son Manuel that he will not lift a finger to help him out there.
