Alfredo Moreno Charme

Alfredo Germán Moreno Charme (* 1956 in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean managers and politicians.

Biography

After education at the Colegio San Ignacio El Bosque, he studied civil engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile ( PUC). He completed post-graduate studies in business administration at the University of Chicago and ended it with a Master in Business Administration (MBA).

He then began his career in the private sector and was among other director of companies such as Banco de Chile, Home Center and Sodimac of Grupo Luksic and President of ICARE, an organization to promote the company's settlement in Chile. Later he was director of the airline Ladeco and radio Minería. Because of its extensive economic activities, he was also involved in the maintenance of relations with the United States. He was also a member of the International Council of the Dom Cabral Foundation in Brazil and the Global Advisory Board of the School of Business at the University of Chicago.

In addition, he was president of the Fundación Teletón Chile, organized since 1978 annually in Chilean television an appeal for donations to support facility for children and adolescents. In addition, he was Vice President of the International Organization of Teletón and also director of Paz Ciudadana Foundation.

On 9 February 2010 nominated him elected as the new President of Chile in the presidential elections of 2009/2010 Sebastian Pinera as Foreign Minister. After completing the oath of Piñera he took over after the swearing in of the Cabinet on 11 March 2010 officially the secretary of state and thus became the successor to Mariano Fernández. Moreno is a member of the party Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI ).
