Algeria Press Service

Algérie Presse Service is the official news agency of Algeria.

It is headquartered in the capital Algiers.

APS was established on 1 December 1961 after Algeria became independent in the wake of decolonization (see also decolonization of Africa ) after the end of the Algerian War.

Since 1963, APS regularly supplies the major news agencies in the world.

1998 APS launched its website.

APS in Algeria has four regional offices:

  • Constantine ( "East" ) for the provinces of Constantine, Batna, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Oum El Bouaghi Tébessa, Souk Ahras, El Tarf, Mila, Khenchela, Biskra, Guelma, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj M'sila and
  • Oran ( "West" ) for the provinces of Oran, Tlemcen, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mostaganem, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Ain Temouchent, Relizane, mascara and Chlef
  • Ouargla ( "South" ) for the provinces of Ouargla, Adrar, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Tindouf, Naama, Laghouat, Bechar, Ghardaia, and El Oued El Bayadh
  • Blida ( "central" ) for the provinces of Blida, Tipaza, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou -, Bejaia, Bouira Djelfa, Ain defla and Medea.

Abroad, APS has 12 representative offices: Washington, Moscow, Paris, London, Brussels, Rome, Madrid, Cairo, Rabat, Tunis, Amman and Dakar.
