Algirdas Saudargas

Algirdas Saudargas ( born April 17, 1948 in Kaunas) is a Lithuanian diplomat and politician of the party Tėvynės Sąjunga - Lietuvos krikščionys demokratai.

Life

Saudargas made ​​1972 his university degree in biophysics from the Kaunas Medical Institute and then worked as a research assistant until 1977 and from 1982 to 1990. From 1977 to 1982 he taught mathematics at the Lietuvos zemes UKIO akademija.

From 1995 to 1999 he was chairman of the Tėvynės Sąjunga. He was a member of the Seimas of 1990-2004. From 1990 to 1992 and from 1996 to 2000 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. He was also from 2004 to 2008 Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Holy See. Since 2009 he is a member of the European Parliament.

His son Paulius Saudargas ( b. 1979 ), a biophysicist and politicians.
