Algonquin is a place that is partly in McHenry and partly in Kane County (Illinois ), Illinois, United States, is located. It is one of the north-eastern suburbs of Chicago, about 64 miles from the Chicago Loop. According to the census in 2010 lived in the town of 30046 inhabitants. History

Long before European immigrants settled in the area around Algonquin lived dor Potawatomiindianer. The first settlers reached the area by 1834.
