Splendour Kiel lizard ( A. nigropunctatus )

The keel lizards ( Algyroides ) are a genus within the family of the Real lizards and include only four relic -like in Southern Europe and North Africa, widespread species. They are closely related to the genus Lacerta.

Features

Kiel lizards are slim and will not exceed 15 inches long. You have enlarged, strongly keeled and shingled overlying dorsal scales that are at least on the center back than on the tail top. The scales on the flanks are small and smooth. Your coloring is mostly plain brown, darker above, lighter below. In contrast to the genus Psammodromus the keel lizards carry a well- trained collar.
